Ramadan 2026: Dubai Police Mobile Cannon arrives at Global Village this weekend
Visitors invited to witness historic iftar moment
DUBAI – Dubai Police’s Mobile Cannon, known as Al Rahal, is set to make a special appearance at Global Village this weekend, offering residents and tourists a chance to experience one of the UAE’s most cherished Ramadan traditions.
The cannon will be stationed at the popular destination on Saturday and Sunday, corresponding to 11 and 12 Ramadan. The initiative forms part of Dubai Police’s wider programme to preserve and promote the cultural spirit of the holy month.
Authorities confirmed that while the mobile unit moves across the emirate, the cannon in Hatta will remain stationed at Hatta Dam until 12 Ramadan, ensuring communities in the mountainous region continue to witness the symbolic iftar moment.

The Ramadan cannon firing is a long-standing custom across the United Arab Emirates (UAE), marking the exact moment of iftar at sunset. Dubai Police continue to prioritise the tradition as a way of connecting modern audiences with Arab and Islamic heritage. The presence of Al Rahal at major public destinations each year draws large crowds eager to witness the ceremonial firing.
Officials said the mobile cannon will travel to 17 locations throughout Ramadan, allowing a wider segment of the public to participate in the experience. The tour began at Zabeel Park and has been scheduled to move sequentially across prominent sites in Dubai.
Tour stops
Following its appearance at Umm Suqeim Majlis and JBR, the cannon is scheduled to continue to Bab Al Shams Hotel and Al Meydan Hotel before arriving at Global Village.

After this weekend’s stop, the mobile unit will proceed to Atlantis Hotel, Nad Al Sheba Majlis, and the Margham area.
The remaining route includes Burj Khalifa, Lehbab area, Al Khawaneej Majlis, Marsa Boulevard, Al Warqa area, Vida Creek Harbour and finally Al Barsha Park. Dubai Police stated that the rotating schedule is designed to maximise public access across different communities.
Fixed Cannons
Alongside the travelling unit, six stationary Ramadan cannons have been deployed at key landmarks across the emirate for the duration of the holy month. These are positioned at JBR, Burj Khalifa, Damac Hills, Expo City Dubai at Al Wasl Plaza, Dubai Festival City, and Vida Creek Harbour Hotel.
Dubai Police emphasised that the initiative reflects its commitment to preserving authentic Ramadan practices while making them accessible to residents and visitors alike.
